Meeke Closing in on ERC Finale Appearance in Portugal
TO NEWS OVERVIEW
Meeke is closing on a deal to contest the final event in Fafe as well as Ceredigion

Kris Meeke might have just savored victory at Rali Ceredigion, but his mind is already set on the next adventure. The Briton is working on a deal to compete in the European Rally Championship season finale in Portugal, scheduled for October 23-25.

Despite online reports suggesting Meeke has already confirmed his entry for Rally Six Cities North, he told DirtFish that no deal is in place yet. “For sure I want to be there. We’re working on it, let’s see,” he said, sounding hopeful.

If the deal materializes, Kris Meeke would undoubtedly be a strong favorite for victory. His status as Portugal’s 2024 national champion, coupled with a dominant performance in Wales—where he won 10 of 16 stages—makes him the man to beat. “It was a tricky rally weather wise, but honestly they’re some of the best Tarmac roads in the world. These roads reward commitment, and as a rally driver that’s what you want,” Meeke said, reflecting on his Welsh success.

The Ceredigion win also holds special significance for Toyota, marking their first ERC victory on Tarmac. Meeke credits the factory team’s efforts, especially after a four-day test in Donegal. “We really improved the car. I feel at home in it. And on Michelin tires—when the package is right, it makes your job easy,” he explained.

Meeke also praised his co-driver, Noel O'Sullivan, who was navigating for him in a Rally2 car for the first time. “Reading my notes on these technical roads is no easy feat. He did a good job,” he said.

The experience in Wales left a lasting impression. Meeke admitted he enjoyed every second, and he wasn’t alone. “I was just chatting to Teemu [Suninen]; he said the same—it’s one of the best experiences in a rally car. So yeah, they’re blessed with what they have here,” he concluded.
