Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen delivered a masterclass performance to secure a commanding victory during the Sprint race at the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix. His path to the top step of the podium was shaped by severe weather conditions, dramatic opening-lap battles, and high-profile incidents among his championship rivals.
The race start faced a crucial half-hour delay due to heavy rainfall just moments before the scheduled formation lap. Standing water accumulated across several sections of the circuit, prompting race control to deploy the medical car on multiple occasions to inspect track conditions and guarantee driver safety before the lights finally went out.
As the field charged off the line on a damp track surface, George Russell launched brilliantly from the front row to snatch the lead from Verstappen heading into Turn 1. Further back, Lewis Hamilton executed a stellar start from the spray, slicing past both McLaren machines to vault into third position.

However, drama struck the race leader before the completion of the opening tour when Russell pushed too hard on the slippery tarmac. Exiting the final corner, his car touched a white line, spun out of control, and heavily impacted the pit wall, forcing an immediate retirement and triggering the Safety Car.
Once racing resumed, Verstappen controlled the pace at the front despite late pressure from Hamilton. Behind them, Charles Leclerc fought hard to defend his podium position against a charging pack, culminating in a fierce final-lap collision between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri as Verstappen comfortably cruised home to take the checkered flag.
