Max Verstappen Still Holds Regular Christian Horner Talks

Max Verstappen has revealed that he still speaks to former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner almost every week following Horner’s departure from the team last year.

Horner held the Red Bull team principal role for more than 20 years before leaving suddenly after the 2025 British Grand Prix. During that spell, he oversaw one of the team’s most successful eras, including its dominant period with Sebastian Vettel in the early 2010s and its later success with Verstappen.

Red Bull subsequently appointed Laurent Mekies as Horner’s replacement. Since leaving the team structure, Horner has been linked with various roles on the grid, although the available material does not confirm any next step.

Horner was seen back in the Formula 1 paddock on Sunday at Silverstone, marking his first paddock appearance since departing Red Bull. Verstappen was then asked about his former team boss’s return after a British Grand Prix weekend in which his own future again remained a talking point.

“I speak to Christian almost every week,” Verstappen told media including RacingNews365.

Verstappen added that he saw Horner on camera at Silverstone but had not had time to meet him because of the demands of the race weekend. Asked what they speak about, Verstappen said the conversations are like those with friends or people he has known for a long time.

Amid continued discussion about his own future following another challenging British Grand Prix outing, Verstappen declined to go into further detail. “I'm not going to say anything about that. It's not fair to say anything about that, right now,” he said.
