Max Verstappen has carved his name into the Formula 1 history books once again following a brilliant victory at Sepang. However, this triumph came under extraordinary circumstances as the race officially counted as the Bahrain Grand Prix, relocated due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Starting from pole position, the star driver for Red Bull delivered a masterclass to secure the 72nd win of his career. This result also marks a monumental milestone as the very first Grand Prix victory for the team's in-house Red Bull-Ford Powertrains power unit.
Sepang stepped in as a substitute venue after the Sakhir opener had to be postponed from its original April slot. The grand prix marked F1's eagerly awaited return to Malaysia for the first time since the venue dropped off the calendar following the 2017 season.

Verstappen's latest masterclass at Sepang established an all-time F1 record for the longest gap between wins at the exact same circuit. A span of nine years and three days translates to a staggering 3,291 days since his previous victory at the Malaysian venue back in 2017.
The Dutchman shattered the previous benchmark held by Nigel Mansell, who won the 1992 South African Grand Prix at Kyalami 2,325 days after his 1985 triumph at the same track. Verstappen now stands alone at the top of this peculiar historical milestone.
