Max Verstappen Plans F1 Start Strategy Shift After Gear Two Issues

The race weekend for Max Verstappen in Formula 1 delivered a milestone moment as the Dutch driver secured the 50th pole position of his illustrious career. Joining an elite group of drivers with fifty or more poles, the reigning world champion insisted that such historic statistics do not distract him from his core objective on track.

"That's not why I do this. I take it one weekend at a time and always try to get the maximum out of it," Verstappen explained inside the paddock. Despite topping every major session on the challenging street circuit, the Red Bull Racing star maintained a sharp focus on areas that still require immediate technical refinement.

The primary concern centered around poor launch phases, which allowed George Russell and other rivals to surge ahead during the sprint race start. The initial problem stemmed from team advice to launch in second gear under wet conditions at Sepang and Singapore, a tactical choice that ultimately hampered turbo spooling compared to competitors utilizing first gear.

"In Malaysia, it was a different problem. That problem was added on top of everything else," Verstappen noted when detailing the complex mechanical hurdles faced by the team. Having labeled his sprint start as horrendous, the championship leader issued a strong warning that replicating the error during the main grand prix would instantly compromise their race prospects.

As reported by Motorsport.com, internal discussions within Red Bull are prioritizing start procedures and downshift calibration. Moving forward, Verstappen confirmed he will adopt a modified approach if wet-weather launch dilemmas arise again, ensuring maximum competitiveness as the championship battle intensifies.
