Max Verstappen is set to experience a fresh voice in his ear after Red Bull confirmed a structured engineering transition plan ahead of upcoming Formula 1 rounds.
Tom Hart will step in as race engineer for three remaining races of the 2026 campaign, starting directly at the United States Grand Prix. These trial runs serve as the foundation for a comprehensive handover process before Hart permanently replaces GianPiero Lambiase for 2027.
Lambiase, who has successfully guided Verstappen from the pit wall since 2016, announced earlier this year that he will depart Red Bull to assume the role of Chief Racing Officer at McLaren no later than 2028.

Having chosen to remain with Red Bull instead of pursuing an opportunity with Williams, Hart previously gained valuable collaborative experience with Verstappen during practice trial sessions at the historic Monza circuit.
Under the team's transitional roadmap, Hart is scheduled to manage the pit wall operations in Austin, Brazil, and Las Vegas, while Lambiase remains on-site before resuming his engineering duties for the final legs in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
This major shift arrives amid recent technical hurdles, most notably the faulty team radio communications that plagued the duo during Verstappen's dominant victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore.
Addressing the radio malfunction after the chequered flag, Verstappen joked about the situation with his long-time engineer. Maybe he was happy that it was not working! I could not really say anything, the Dutchman remarked with a smile.
He did try at one point to ask me a few things in code and I think he understood well what I meant or did not do. But it is never nice. I have been having difficulty with my radio already the whole season and this weekend has been particularly bad, he added.
While McLaren Chief Executive Zak Brown remains hopeful about securing an early release for Lambiase next year, Red Bull continues with its methodical handover to guarantee a seamless working environment for Verstappen.
