Max Verstappen has finally addressed his future in Formula 1. The Dutch driver has officially extended his contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of the 2028 season, putting an end to the speculation that has been swirling around his career.
The announcement came during the Dutch Grand Prix weekend at Zandvoort, a fitting moment to give his fans some certainty. Verstappen has often been critical of the new F1 regulations and has been getting more involved in GT racing, leading many to question his long-term commitment to F1.
However, with this extension, Verstappen shows he still has big ambitions with the Milton Keynes-based team. If he completes this deal, his total tenure at Red Bull would reach 15 years—a long journey that began in 2016.

"I am really pleased with the contract extension. We have the best people and I'm excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again," said Max Verstappen in an official team statement. "This remains the ultimate goal that all of us have been working towards."
Verstappen also highlighted his close relationship with the team, which he considers a second family. "I have always said it: the team is like a second family for me. I came hoping to win races, and what we went on to achieve together has been simply lovely—four World Championships," he added.
He also gave credit to team principal Laurent Mekies, praising his clear vision. "Getting to work with Laurent for over a year has also been great. I see a clear vision he has for the team. Everyone in Milton Keynes believes in what we are building, and I look forward to the next chapter, fighting for more victories," he said.
On the other side, Laurent Mekies welcomed the continuation of this partnership. According to him, keeping Verstappen is not just a win for Red Bull, but for F1 as a whole. "Max is the best driver on the grid. His decision to stay is a testament to the trust built over many years," Mekies said.
This certainty also ends the transfer speculation that was heating up, especially with Red Bull's performance dipping in the 2025 season. Now, all focus shifts to how Verstappen and the team can get back to the front, with high hopes for the coming seasons.
