Max Verstappen Edges Out Kimi Antonelli to Top Brazilian GP FP3 As Lewis Hamilton Hits Trouble

The final practice session at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Interlagos delivered high drama as Max Verstappen clinched the fastest time. The Red Bull Racing star edged out his rivals in a frantic session where looming rain threats forced teams to maximize their track time immediately from the green light. The urgency was particularly high for drivers looking to reclaim lost running time from earlier in the weekend.

During the opening phase, the entire field focused on the medium compound tires. Nico Hulkenberg desperately tried to make up for lost time in the Audi garage following earlier reliability glitches. Kimi Antonelli initially set the benchmark with a 1m12.209s lap, narrowly leading Verstappen, even though both front-runners reported minor handling complaints regarding heavy steering loads through the twisty Interlagos corners.

Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc showed strong pace for Ferrari to sit comfortably inside the top three, closely followed by George Russell and an impressive Liam Lawson. However, disaster struck Lewis Hamilton's garage as strange vibrations from his new power unit escalated into concerning noises and smoke inside the cockpit, confining the Briton to the pits and ruining his soft-tire preparations.

As the field strapped on the soft rubber for qualifying simulations, the times tumbled dramatically. Verstappen extracted ultimate performance from his RB22 to clock a 1m11.622s, edging out Antonelli by a mere 0.025 seconds. Lando Norris charged up to third for McLaren, followed by Russell and Leclerc, rounding out a fiercely competitive top four separated by less than three tenths of a second.

Hamilton's inability to run the soft compound left him stranded down in 12th place in the final classification, while Lance Stroll suffered a terminal ERS issue early on. With margins razor-thin across the grid, the stage is now set for a breathtaking and unpredictable qualifying showdown under the Brazilian sun.
