Tension in the Formula 1 paddock flared up once again as Max Verstappen delivered another scathing critique directed at Liam Lawson following their dramatic on-track collision during the second practice session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Both drivers were summoned by the stewards and handed a one-place grid penalty for an incident officially deemed unacceptable.
The contact resulted in noticeable car damage for both competitors. The four-time world champion suffered damage to a bargeboard on his RB22 machine, whilst the Racing Bulls driver sustained front-wing damage after the pair went wheel-to-wheel through the stadium section following a tense buildup.
Immediately after the clash, the Red Bull Racing star openly pointed fingers and labeled the move as lacking intelligence. Speaking to media outlets after the final practice session, the Dutchman made it clear he remained disappointed despite the FIA ruling that both drivers shared the blame for the collision.

"Look, you are fighting for your seat, so you definitely should not be picking a fight with me," Verstappen stated. He further emphasized his previous support, noting that he has always maintained a good personal relationship and spoken positively about his young rival behind closed doors.
Reflecting on the challenges faced by the New Zealander last season, Verstappen stood firm on his uncompromising racing philosophy. "Of course, it sucked for him last year. I am really not a difficult person. When I put on my helmet, I always try to get the most out of it, but not in practice. I just will not let anyone push me off the track. That does not happen to me," he concluded.
