Max Verstappen Admits Red Bull Life Is Less Stressful After Christian Horner Exit

The atmosphere inside the Red Bull garage has undergone a noticeable shift recently. Star driver Max Verstappen has openly admitted that life within the team now feels much calmer and less mentally taxing following the departure of Christian Horner from the Formula 1 paddock.

The management's decision to relieve Horner of his duties as team principal and CEO came in the wake of internal dynamics that peaked following the 2025 British Grand Prix. That moment ultimately brought a definitive end to a 20-year tenure at the helm of the Milton Keynes-based outfit.

Even though all four of his world championship titles were secured while Horner was in charge, the 28-year-old Dutch driver stressed that he much prefers a cooperative work environment free from constant political tension. "To be honest, I like to see people get on. It is not nice when you constantly have tension between people," Verstappen told the Press Association, as reported by Crash.net.

The Red Bull pacesetter added that while the current paddock dynamic might lack the dramatic flair often craved by external observers, emotional stability is far more valuable to those working on the ground. "It is not as spicy, but I obviously quite like how things are going at the moment with everyone's behaviour, let's put it like that. It is less stressful. We are all leading a stressful life and when you can take a bit of stress out at times, it is good," he explained.

Addressing recent headlines surrounding Horner admitting that joining Ferrari would be his dream role should he return to the sport, Max Verstappen maintained a pragmatic stance. He noted that his former boss proved his capabilities in the past, but outside speculation remains entirely separate from his own concerns.

Meanwhile, the reigning world champion's long-term future with the squad has been firmly secured via a new deal keeping him with the team until the end of the 2030 campaign. When asked if he would ever be tempted to drive for Ferrari, his response centered strictly around competitiveness and pure pace.

"I only want to win. I am not a nostalgic type. Do I have a lot of respect for the brand? Absolutely. But if that means you then commit yourself, and you are driving P5 or P6, what's the point? I am very performance-driven, and I have won a lot with this team already," Verstappen concluded.
