Star driver Max Verstappen has opened up about his career milestone and the dark moments that almost led him to walk away from the pinnacle of motorsport. Marking his 250th Grand Prix appearance in Formula 1, the multiple world champion reflected on his evolution from a controversial teenage prodigy into one of the most mature veterans on the current starting grid.
The sweeping technical regulation changes and the contentious new power unit concepts introduced for the upcoming seasons took a heavy mental toll on the Dutchman. He revealed that the early stages of the current development cycle pushed him into a deep sense of frustration, leading to genuine thoughts of ending his illustrious racing career prematurely.
"Si, avevo veramente toccato il fondo, soprattutto nei primi weekend di questa stagione. Non avevo mai provato una sensazione del genere prima d’ora," explained the championship leader, highlighting how overwhelming the initial phase of the new hybrid era felt before governing bodies eventually opened up to feedback from the drivers.

While improvements have been made to give the internal combustion engine a more significant role in future technical packages, his long-term stay in the sport remains uncertain. Although his current contract ties him to Red Bull until 2030, he insists that such a long-term agreement does not automatically guarantee he will remain on the grid until the very last day of that deal.
Beyond engineering grievances, he also voiced sharp discontent regarding the modern commercialized environment inside the team garages. The overwhelming influx of corporate guests and celebrities has turned restricted working areas into a chaotic spectacle, severely draining the competitors' mental energy throughout a grueling championship calendar.
