Facing the harsh reality of not having a main grid seat for the upcoming season, Maverick Vinales admits that he spends every single night pondering the continuation of his racing career in the world championship. The Spanish rider asserts that he is not yet ready to relinquish his status as a primary competitor, even though his future in the paddock remains shrouded in uncertainty following a prolonged contract dispute with his current manufacturer.
The 10-time grand prix winner openly stated that the notion of transitioning into a test rider role at the age of 32 holds little appeal for him. While rumors briefly linked him to a test rider position with another factory squad ahead of the race weekend, those speculations were quickly dismissed, and a switch to the World Superbike Championship has not emerged as his primary destination either.

As reported by Motorsport.com, the Red Bull KTM Tech 3 rider expressed how complex the decision-making process has been as he evaluates his next moves. Bitter experiences from severe injuries that forced him to endure lengthy layoffs in recent seasons have paradoxically left him feeling physically refreshed and holding an abundance of energy to continue competing at the highest level.

"I need to think things through carefully; I don't know if I'm ready," the Tech 3 rider told media including Motorsport.com ahead of the Indonesian Grand Prix weekend. "Deep down, I haven't given up yet. I have to consider whether I could do something like that [being a test rider]. It would have its pros and cons."

He further added that thoughts regarding the trajectory of his career consume his mind on a daily basis. He acknowledged that the situation feels peculiar and difficult, yet he firmly maintains that his desire to remain an active competitor on the grid has not faded away.
"I think about it every day: how to approach my future and what I want to do. It’s important to know. I think about it every day; I still want to be a rider. It’s difficult. It’s strange, but I need to give it serious thought," he elaborated with a resolute tone.
Given his limited race appearances following the injury sustained at the German Grand Prix over a year ago, Vinales believes his body and mind remain in a pristine state compared to his regular rivals. That extended period away from intense competition has provided him with extra energy that he now aims to channel wisely into deciding his ultimate path within the MotoGP paddock.
