Track action resumed at high intensity as Matteo De Palo stormed to the top of the timesheets on the opening day of the FIA Formula 3 post-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Following a productive outing in Jerez, the single-seater hopefuls shifted their attention to the technical Spanish venue to fine-tune their setups and extract maximum performance.
The morning session began with a methodical approach from the garages as teams prioritized system checks before committing to longer stints. Rashid Al Dhaheri initially set the pace during the opening hour, before the times tumbled as track evolution played its part. The lead changed hands multiple times, with AIX Racing duo Gabriel Gomez and Dion Gowda briefly taking charge at the front of the field.
As the clock ticked down into the final hour, Alessandro Giusti put Rodin Motorsport at the summit with a strong benchmark lap. However, Ernesto Rivera soon responded by breaking into the 1m28s bracket for Campos Racing. Ultimately, it was Matteo De Palo who delivered the killer blow, clocking a blistering 1m28.516 to snatch P1 just before Reza Seewooruthun brought out a premature end to the morning running.

The afternoon session mirrored the patterns seen in Jerez, with teams dedicating valuable track time to race simulations and long-run data collection. Trident was the first outfit to venture out in force, orchestrated by Kean Nakamura-Berta. The leaderboard continued to fluctuate as Enzo Deligny and Matteo De Palo traded rapid laps.
Although Ernesto Rivera ultimately claimed the fastest time of the afternoon session in the dying minutes, Matteo De Palo's morning effort remained the undisputed benchmark of the day, capping off a stellar opening performance for MP Motorsport in Barcelona.
