Jorge Martin arrives at Misano as the MotoGP championship leader, but he's under no illusion that his closest rivals, Marc Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi, are currently in stronger form. In a candid interview, the Aprilia rider admitted that his advantage stems more from consistency than raw speed.
Consistency Key Amid Tight Battle
Martin leads the standings by 24 points over Marquez and Bezzecchi. Since the start of the season, he hasn't always been dominant, but he has consistently scored points—including a fifth-place finish in Aragon. This approach differs from his more explosive 2024 campaign. “I've learned from experience and injuries. Sometimes it's better to finish fourth than risk everything for a podium,” he said. That strategy has paid off: he sits atop the table despite not having the most wins.
Relationships with Marquez and Bezzecchi
Off track, Martin says his relationship with both rivals is healthy. “With Marco, I spend more time, we do more activities like TikToks. Our relationship is built on respect, and I've learned a lot from him. With Marc, it's different because he's intensely focused,” he explained. Paddock tension is natural, but it doesn't affect their sportsmanship.

Crucial Moment at Misano
Misano is a key test for Martin. The circuit is Aprilia's home track, and he's determined to deliver. “I'm still in the fight. They are both very strong right now, but I'll battle until the end,” he asserted. He acknowledges that it might be time to be more aggressive, but he'll still calculate risks. “It's a long season, like an endurance race. I need to manage energy and motivation wisely.”
Lessons from the Past
Martin has endured injuries and disappointments, which have made him more mature in his decision-making. “I haven't lost ambition. On the contrary, I know when to attack and when to defend. That's what keeps me leading,” he concluded. With eight rounds remaining, this three-way duel is expected to intensify, and Misano could be a turning point.
