Marc Marquez once again demonstrated his sprint mastery in the 2026 MotoGP season. At the Misano circuit, the Ducati rider clinched his sixth sprint victory of the year after passing Marco Bezzecchi into Turn 1 and holding off relentless pressure to the chequered flag.
Starting from second on the grid, Marquez wasted no time when the lights went out. He dived past polesitter Bezzecchi at Turn 1, reminiscent of his Aragon sprint triumph. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin, starting from the second row, also gained positions after Fabio di Giannantonio overtook Fermin Aldeguer at Turn 4, allowing Martin to move up to fourth.
Bezzecchi initially clung to Marquez's tail. On soft tyres, the Aprilia rider kept the gap under a second. However, Marquez gradually pulled away, leading by one second by lap five. Mid-race, Bezzecchi began to close in, halving the deficit on lap eight. But Marquez responded immediately, setting the fastest lap of the race to extend his advantage back to 0.8 seconds.

Behind the leading duo, Martin had to settle for third. He passed di Giannantonio on lap seven and immediately built a gap from the VR46 rider. Meanwhile, Alex Marquez capitalised on a fierce battle between Pedro Acosta and Aldeguer to snatch fifth, despite a challenging qualifying session that saw him crash twice.
Acosta finished sixth ahead of Trackhouse's Raul Fernandez and Aldeguer, who dropped to 10th before recovering to eighth. The final point went to Honda's Luca Marini, who survived a mid-race collision triggered by Fabio Quartararo. Johann Zarco completed the top 10 for LCR Honda.
This victory further strengthens Marquez's position in the riders' standings. He is now closing in on Martin, who still leads the championship. With his sprint consistency, Marquez proves he is still the best on Saturdays. Sunday's main race will be the next test: can Marquez conquer Misano again, or will Bezzecchi and Martin mount a fierce challenge?
