Marc Marquez proved his class once again. At the Marco Simoncelli Circuit in Misano, the Spanish rider secured his seventh MotoGP victory and seized the championship lead from Jorge Martin. This is the pinnacle of a remarkable comeback: from 102 points behind, Marquez now equals Martin, though he leads on win count.
The race start was dramatic. Marco Bezzecchi, who had a good start, crashed at the Curvone corner on the opening lap. That incident paved the way for Marquez to control the race. After letting Martin lead briefly, Marquez attacked at Rio and was unstoppable. “I just focused on my rhythm,” Marquez said after the race. “Seeing Bezzecchi crash changed the strategy, but I stayed calm.”
The podium was an all-Spanish affair: Alex Marquez finished second after charging from ninth, and Pedro Acosta took third on a less competitive KTM. Acosta was only 2.3 seconds behind Marquez. Fermin Aldeguer completed the Spanish dominance in fourth, while Jorge Martin had to settle for fifth after his strong pace faded in the second half.

For Aprilia, it was a disappointing weekend. Bezzecchi failed to finish, and Martin lost valuable points. Martin, who relied on consistent speed, lost grip towards the end. “We lost performance in the final sector,” admitted Martin. “But there are still many races left.”
The top Italian was Fabio Di Giannantonio in seventh, despite a poor start. Luca Marini, Enea Bastianini, and Fabio Quartararo completed positions 8-10. Francesco Bagnaia suffered another misfortune: he crashed at Variante del Parco, recording his fourth DNF in the last five races. “I couldn't do much, the bike suddenly lost grip,” Bagnaia explained.
With this result, Marquez now leads the championship with more wins than Martin. The title fight heats up ahead of the next round at the Red Bull Ring in Austria next weekend. The Spielberg race will test Aprilia's ability to bounce back and Ducati's bid to maintain dominance.
