Marc Marquez proved his mastery in the MotoGP Misano 2026 sprint race. With an unconventional medium rear tyre, he passed Marco Bezzecchi right after the start and never looked back. This win is crucial for his title hopes.
As the lights went out, Marquez used the medium tyre's grip to secure the inside line into Turn 1. Bezzecchi, on the soft tyre, had no answer. Marquez built a lead of over a second, though Bezzecchi clawed it back to 0.5-0.6 seconds in the second half of the race.
However, Marquez's fastest lap on lap 11 broke Bezzecchi's resistance. The Aprilia rider settled for second. Meanwhile, points leader Jorge Martin minimised the damage by finishing third. This result leaves Martin leading Marquez by 14 points and Bezzecchi by 22.

Martin, who started fifth, had to work hard. He picked off Fermin Aldeguer and then Fabio Di Giannantonio at Turn 6, holding off the Ducati on the straight. Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez completed the top five, with Alex benefiting from the Aldeguer vs Pedro Acosta battle ahead.
The fierce duel between Aldeguer and Acosta also brought Raul Fernandez into the mix. Ultimately, Aldeguer finished behind Acosta and Fernandez, and ahead of Luca Marini, who scored the last point. Fabio Quartararo was the only crasher, falling when trying to squeeze past Diogo Moreira on the inside. He remounted to finish 21st.
Toprak Razgatlioglu received a one-place penalty for track limits on the last lap. With this result, the 2026 MotoGP title fight intensifies. Marquez showed that tyre strategy and calmness at Turn 1 can be the key to victory at Misano.
