MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marco Bezzecchi delivered a commanding performance to win the 2026 Thai MotoGP for Aprilia Racing, while Marc Marquez endured a frightening rear-tyre failure that ended his podium hopes for Ducati.

After showing strong pace throughout the weekend, Bezzecchi rebounded from his sprint crash on Saturday by launching cleanly from pole position and securing the holeshot. Within two laps, he had already built a one-second advantage and steadily extended his lead over the 26-lap distance at Buriram, ultimately taking the chequered flag by 5.543 seconds. The victory marked his third consecutive grand prix win, making him the first Aprilia rider to achieve that milestone.

Behind him, Pedro Acosta finished second for KTM, a result that propelled him to the top of the championship standings with a seven-point lead. Raul Fernandez secured third for Trackhouse Aprilia despite suffering significant rear grip drop-off in the closing laps. Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura completed a remarkable four RS-GP machines inside the top five.

In contrast, Ducati endured a difficult weekend. Marquez, who had been battling in the podium fight, suffered an apparent rear-tyre failure at Turn 4 on lap 21. The sudden loss of pressure nearly threw him from the GP26, but he managed to avoid injury. The retirement ended Ducati’s record 88-race podium streak in dramatic fashion.

A few laps later, Honda rider Joan Mir also retired with a suspected puncture, raising broader concerns over tyre durability. Ducati’s top finisher was Fabio Di Giannantonio in sixth, 16.8 seconds adrift of the race winner.

The early stages of the race featured intense battles behind Bezzecchi. Fernandez passed Marquez at Turn 7 on the opening lap, while Acosta and Martin traded positions in a heated scrap. Acosta eventually secured third place before Marquez’s retirement reshuffled the order in the podium fight.

Further down the field, Brad Binder was unable to pass Di Giannantonio, while Franco Morbidelli overtook Francesco Bagnaia at the final corner for eighth. Luca Marini was the leading Honda in 10th, ahead of Johann Zarco, Enea Bastianini, Diogo Moreira, Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, who completed the points-paying positions.

The result underlines Aprilia’s technical momentum at the start of the 2026 campaign, while Ducati faces urgent questions over reliability and tyre management. With Acosta leading the standings and Bezzecchi carrying dominant form, the next round will be crucial in determining whether Aprilia can consolidate its early advantage or if Ducati can respond swiftly in the developing championship battle.
