Marco Bezzecchi secured a sensational victory during the main race at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, claiming his first Grand Prix win since Mugello. Despite the dominant performance on the Indonesian island of Lombok, the Aprilia Racing rider remains grounded regarding his 2026 MotoGP world championship aspirations, acknowledging the massive deficit to the top.
The Italian's weekend was far from straightforward. During Saturday's Sprint race, he crashed out on the opening lap following an incident with Raul Fernandez from the Trackhouse MotoGP Team, which sparked post-race friction. However, Bezzecchi bounced back brilliantly on Sunday, executing a calculated race strategy before making his decisive late-race move to seal the victory.
Reflecting on his emotional win after battling through injuries sustained at the Sachsenring earlier in the season, Bezzecchi expressed immense relief. “I am very happy with my race. I really wanted to leave Mandalika with a strong result, and ever since my injury, I have been hunting for this win. It feels incredible to finally win again,” he said.

Despite the triumph, Bezzecchi maintained complete realism about his standings deficit. With five Grand Prix weekends remaining, he sits 46 points behind the championship leader. “If you look at the championship, the title is currently more lost than won. But that doesn’t change my mindset or how I work with my team. I am not someone who gives up easily,” Bezzecchi explained.
Speaking further to TNT Sports, the Italian emphasized that his tough championship position only fuels his determination. “The gap is still big, but I am not someone who stops believing. It motivates me to keep working hard and give everything. If I can fight for it until the end, that would be fantastic. If not, I must learn from my mistakes,” he added. His victory highlighted Aprilia's strong pace, as championship leader Jorge Martin finished third and Marc Marquez took sixth, ahead of the next round at Phillip Island.
