The qualifying session of the Grand Prix of Qatar at the Lusail International Circuit delivered intense drama as Marco Bezzecchi delivered a stellar performance to secure the premier grid position. The Aprilia rider not only claimed pole position but also shattered the circuit lap record with a phenomenal time of 1:50.028, leaving his closest rivals struggling to match his incredible pace.
Bezzecchi's exceptional display thwarted Marc Marquez's ambitions of securing another consecutive pole in Qatar. The reigning world champion had to settle for second place on the starting grid, trailing by roughly two tenths of a second, though the front-row start still places him in an ideal position to fight for vital championship points this weekend.
The competitive action kicked off intensely from Q1, with riders like Fermin Aldeguer and Pedro Acosta pushing hard to break into the pole shootout. Meanwhile, Brad Binder suffered an early crash in Q2 that prevented him from setting a representative lap time, and Jorge Martin faced traffic struggles and physical discomfort during his final flying laps.

Reflecting on his performance, Bezzecchi expressed absolute delight with his flawless qualifying run. "This has been a perfect qualifying session for us, our target was to be on the front row and grabbing pole position is even better than expected," Bezzecchi stated regarding his historic lap in Lusail.
Acknowledging the gap at the top, Marquez admitted to his rival's superior pace while maintaining focus on the bigger picture. "Our goal as I said yesterday was to be on the front row and it was not easy, but we made it; we know Marco has a completely different pace this weekend and we need to accept it and do our job," Marquez remarked. The front row is successfully completed by Fabio Di Giannantonio in third.
