MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Marc Marquez of Ducati Lenovo Team secured victory in the 2026 Brazilian MotoGP Sprint at Goiania after a decisive late move on Fabio Di Giannantonio in a tightly contested race.
The 15-lap Sprint was delayed by over one hour after a hole was discovered on the main straight, forcing emergency repairs and reshuffling the schedule. The race eventually started at 16:20 local time, with all riders selecting the hard front tyre, while most opted for the soft rear compound.
Starting from pole, Di Giannantonio made a strong launch and established an early lead. However, momentum gradually shifted towards Marquez during the middle phase of the race, as the Ducati rider consistently reduced the gap and applied increasing pressure.

The decisive moment came in the closing laps when Di Giannantonio made a minor mistake exiting onto the main straight, allowing Marquez to capitalise and take the lead. A final-lap attempt to respond was unsuccessful, as Marquez held position to claim his first victory since recovering from last year’s shoulder injury.
The battle for the final podium position unfolded between Aprilia Racing team-mates Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi. Martin seized third place after capitalising on a mistake from Bezzecchi mid-race and maintained the position to secure his first podium with Aprilia.
Bezzecchi finished fourth, followed by Ai Ogura in fifth for Trackhouse. Fabio Quartararo delivered an aggressive opening stint but ultimately settled for sixth, marking Yamaha’s strongest result of the session.
Behind them, Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia finished seventh and eighth respectively. Championship leader Pedro Acosta could only manage ninth, though he remained the leading KTM rider and retained his advantage in the standings.
The race also featured multiple incidents, with Joan Mir, Johann Zarco, and Maverick Vinales all failing to finish due to crashes. Meanwhile, rookie Fermin Aldeguer dropped from seventh to 20th on the opening lap after a poor launch, before recovering to finish 14th.
The result reinforces Ducati’s competitive edge in mixed conditions while highlighting Aprilia’s growing consistency and Yamaha’s ability to extract performance in challenging scenarios. With the championship still in its early phase, the Sprint outcome adds further complexity to the evolving title battle.
