Ahead of this weekend's pivotal showdown at the Lusail International Circuit, Marc Marquez has finally shed light on the turning point that reignited his 2026 MotoGP championship challenge. Following a difficult start to the season after shoulder surgery, the Ducati Lenovo Team star now stands on the brink of glory, with a massive opportunity to secure his 10th world title in Qatar.

Marquez identified July's Sachsenring round as the moment he truly believed he was back in the game. At that stage, he was 102 points adrift following a low-key return at Mugello. However, the tide turned with a double victory at Balaton Park, sparking a streak where he won five of the subsequent eight races.
"The Sachsenring GP is when I started to feel that we were in the game again, that we were in the title fight," Marquez said. He noted that the struggles of his rivals, including Marco Bezzecchi's failure to finish multiple races and Jorge Martin's battle with a hand injury, provided him with the necessary window to climb back into contention.

The technical support from Ducati was equally instrumental. Marquez admitted that consistent updates improved his feeling with the bike, allowing him to push harder. To secure the championship this weekend, Marquez must outscore the injured Martin by 30 points out of a possible 37, while also keeping his gap over Bezzecchi in check.
Despite his commanding position, Marquez remains grounded. Comparing the current tension to his past title fights that went down to the wire, he insists the job is far from finished. His focus remains locked on navigating the unique challenges of the Lusail night race, where tire degradation under the floodlights will be the ultimate test.
