Marc Marquez has drawn reactions from MotoGP title rivals Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi after a gym photo revealed the condition of his right arm and shoulder.
Marquez has undergone seven surgeries, with the latest procedure taking place in May. The reigning MotoGP champion continues to compete with physical limitations. His surgeon previously described his condition as being like riding with “one and a half arms”.
Martin, who also suffered a series of injuries and competed in only seven Grands Prix during the 2025 season, acknowledged that the image showed the physical toll riders can face from the demands of the sport.
“For sure you see the impact [on his body] in the image.”
According to Jorge Martin, injuries are part of the risks faced by MotoGP riders. He said he does not know exactly what Marquez is dealing with or how much it is affecting him. Martin also acknowledged that he has some physical issues of his own.
“But this is our sport. We love it even with these things, and that’s why we continue fighting.”
A similar view was expressed by Marco Bezzecchi. The rider has also missed races this season through injury and required surgery on his collarbone and knee after a crash at the German Grand Prix in July.
“Unfortunately, this is MotoGP. It’s what we love to do, but our sport is dangerous, so everybody gets hurt.”
Bezzecchi said riders understand Marquez’s condition and his ability to continue competing despite the injuries he has suffered.
“We all know the condition of Marc and his talent to do what he does with the injuries. But in the end it’s our sport. So we accept it.”
The situation also has a direct connection between Marquez and Bezzecchi. Contact between the pair on the opening lap at Mandalika last season left Marquez requiring surgery and forced him to miss the final rounds of the campaign. The crash also dislodged a bone fragment and screws, requiring a further operation in May to address radial nerve issues.
