The Red Bull Grand Prix of Australia at Phillip Island delivered high drama during a treacherous wet qualifying session for the premier class. Amidst soaked and slippery track conditions, Marc Marquez secured a commanding pole position in impressive fashion. The Ducati Lenovo Team rider suffered an early crash in the second qualifying session but mounted a stellar recovery to dominate the timesheets.
The Q2 session took place under tricky wet weather, forcing riders to constantly search for the right tyre choice and adequate grip levels. These variable weather conditions made the battle for the front row fiercely unpredictable from the opening minutes. Several notable contenders even had to fight through the Q1 phase just to secure their progression into the pole position shootout.
Q1 served as a tough battleground where Jack Miller and Johann Zarco claimed the two available spots for Q2. Performing in front of his home fans, the Australian rider posted a strong lap time to edge out Zarco by a narrow margin. Meanwhile, other big names such as Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo failed to advance after being eliminated early due to the tricky wet asphalt.

Disaster struck Marquez right at the start of Q2 when rain intensified and he lost the front end of his Ducati at turn 4, sliding off the track. The Spanish rider managed to navigate his machine back to the paddock via the service road before quickly jumping onto his secondary motorcycle.
Returning to the track with immediate pace, Marquez responded by unleashing a blistering lap time of 1 minute 34.203 seconds to leave his rivals far behind. His brother Alex Marquez claimed second place with a significant gap of 1.494 seconds, cementing a remarkable performance for the family at Phillip Island.
