The 2026 MotoGP world championship fight reached boiling point as Marc Marquez masterminded a brilliant victory at Mobility Resort Motegi. Starting right behind pole-sitter Jorge Martin, the veteran Spaniard immediately laid down his intentions from the very first lap.
Martin tried his best to control the pace upfront, riding with incredible precision and smoothness. Yet, Marquez refused to let him breathe, maintaining a relentless pressure that eventually cracked the Aprilia rider's defenses in the second half of the grand prix.
With 11 laps remaining, the decisive moment arrived when Marquez executed a clinical overtake to seize the lead. Once out in clear air, he immediately increased his rhythm, building just enough cushion to cruise comfortably through the final couple of laps.

Securing the maximum 37-point haul from the Japanese GP weekend means Marquez has dramatically closed the gap in the championship standings, sitting just two points adrift of his title rival with the season heading into its crucial final phase.
"The race was tough, especially when I was following Jorge," admitted Marquez after the race, noting how crucial it was to finally break free into clean air.
Further back, the fight for the final podium spot provided plenty of late-race drama. Marco Bezzecchi had to survive a ferocious onslaught from Enea Bastianini across the dying laps, successfully holding on to third place by a razor-thin margin.
