Niccolo Maccagnani will make his Formula 3 debut at the season finale in Madrid, stepping in for Christian Ho at Rodin Motorsport. The announcement comes ahead of the races at the brand-new Madring circuit.
Maccagnani, a member of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, recently concluded his Italian F4 campaign with two wins and four podiums. He also finished fourth in F4 South East Asia and second in the 2025 Formula Trophy.
At 16, Maccagnani will become the youngest driver on the F3 grid, matching the record set by Arvid Lindblad, who was also 16 on his debut. This move marks a rapid promotion for the young Italian.
Christian Ho, the Singaporean driver in his second F3 season, will end his campaign early. Ho currently sits 25th in the standings with just two points. Rodin Motorsport did not release the reasons for his withdrawal, but it is not uncommon for drivers struggling in the series to skip the final races.
Maccagnani faces an uphill battle in his debut, with three races over the weekend, including two Feature Races at the new Madring circuit. The team and driver will likely rely on data from the in-season test held a few weeks ago.
With a new circuit, quick adaptation is key. Maccagnani must quickly understand the track's characteristics and work with the team to find the right setup. Nevertheless, this opportunity is a valuable stepping stone for his career.
Rodin Motorsport hopes Maccagnani can deliver a solid performance and help the team end the season on a high. Meanwhile, all eyes will also be on the title battle, which remains wide open.
