M-Sport Ford has confirmed its plan to enter the top class of the 2027 World Rally Championship with the Ford Fiesta Rally2 fitted with the aerodynamic upgrade package allowed under the WRC27 regulations.
Next season’s technical rule change will end the current Rally1 era and introduce a new generation of cars based around existing Rally2 machinery. Under the revised framework, Rally2 cars fitted with a 7,500 euro upgrade kit will be eligible to compete in the top category.
The package mainly consists of aerodynamic upgrades designed to make Rally2 cars more competitive against the new WRC27 machinery. Among the current top-class manufacturers, only Toyota is said to be developing an all-new car.

Richard Millener said M-Sport’s intention is to run the Fiesta Rally2 with the new aerodynamic kit across the 2027 and 2028 seasons, although the team still has a longer-term ambition to build a new car.
"That's obviously our intention, yes," said Millener.
Millener stressed that the project remains at an early stage because the aerodynamic package has only just been approved and still requires official homologation before testing can begin. M-Sport’s next focus will be preparing the technical programme for the kit over the coming months, while keeping the possibility of a new car open for the future.
