Red Bull has been forced into another driver substitution ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Liam Lawson will step up to the senior team to replace Isack Hadjar, who suffered a wrist injury during a gym session last week.
Hadjar was not declared medically fit for the race weekend, prompting Red Bull to act swiftly. This is not the first time Lawson has been called upon as an emergency replacement; he made his F1 debut at the same circuit in 2023 after Daniel Ricciardo broke his hand and wrist in a practice crash.
Lawson's promotion opens a seat at Racing Bulls, which will be filled by Yuki Tsunoda alongside Arvid Lindblad. The move adds pressure on Lawson to deliver, given his strong first half of the 2025 season that earned the team's trust.

This incident adds to a long list of injury-related substitutions in F1. Over the past four years, there have been at least ten cases of driver replacements due to health issues, ranging from appendicitis to COVID-19. Lawson now becomes part of that history, proving that Red Bull's junior pool is a valuable asset.
For Red Bull, this situation tests their driver management strategy. With Hadjar sidelined, the team must ensure a smooth transition without disrupting performance balance across both squads. Lawson's prior experience at Zandvoort could prove advantageous.
From a championship perspective, this change may not directly alter team standings, but it could influence the midfield battle. All eyes will be on Lawson to see if he can seize this golden opportunity.
