Starting from third on the grid under treacherous wet conditions at Interlagos, Liam Lawson executed a sensational getaway. The New Zealander brilliantly sliced past Lando Norris into Turn 1, instantly slotting into second place right behind early race leader Kimi Antonelli. The opening stages showcased intense wheel-to-wheel battles at the sharp end of the field.

However, that stellar early position proved difficult to maintain as the track evolved. Once the racing line began to dry out around Lap 6, Norris reclaimed second, while Isack Hadjar and George Russell also found a way past. Lawson openly conceded that Racing Bulls simply lacked the underlying race pace to match front-running machinery once conditions stabilized.

"I think there were points in the race when we were fighting the front guys, but when it dries up and everyone's pace stabilizes, we don't really have the speed to fight them," Lawson told Sky Sports F1. He emphasized that he tried everything possible to stay high up the order, but unfortunately slipped down the field as the grand prix progressed toward its conclusion.

Late-race rain brought renewed drama, thrusting Lawson into a fierce scrap for seventh place against Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. The pair traded paint entering the final corner on the penultimate lap before Leclerc eventually capitalized on a final-lap maneuver, relegating the Racing Bulls charger to eighth position at the checkered flag.

Despite the late heartbreak, the result marked Lawson's 15th points-scoring finish of the year and his fifth consecutive top-ten result. The valuable points further cemented Racing Bulls' hold on fifth place in the constructors' standings with 112 points, maintaining a comfortable cushion as the championship heads into the final three rounds of the season.
