Formula 1, Sportrik MediaLewis Hamilton has stated that Scuderia Ferrari made several “good discoveries” with its SF-26 during the opening week of 2026 pre-season testing in Bahrain.

Hamilton finished third fastest overall in Sakhir, completing 190 laps across a day and a half of running, including a full race simulation on Friday afternoon. Team-mate Charles Leclerc logged a field-high 218 laps, reinforcing Ferrari’s position among the leading group of teams at this early stage.

The Italian squad was able to complete its full programme, gathering extensive data across varying fuel loads and setup configurations as it adapts to the new technical regulations introduced for 2026.

“It’s been a positive week overall,” Hamilton reflected.

“We completed a lot of laps and went through the full programme, which allowed us to gather plenty of useful data and learn more about the car.”

Hamilton highlighted that mastering the new generation machinery requires careful calibration, particularly in extracting performance from the tyres.

“The SF-26 has felt generally good, but this generation of car is quite complex and finding the right operating window, especially with the tyres, is key.”

“We’ve made some good discoveries and also identified areas where we can improve.”

With one further pre-season test remaining before the season opener in Melbourne, Ferrari’s next objective will be to build on the data collected in Bahrain and refine the operating window of the SF-26 to ensure competitive consistency at the start of the 2026 campaign.
