The long and demanding wait finally came to an end at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. British racing legend Lewis Hamilton successfully ended his pole position drought by claiming the 105th pole of his illustrious Formula 1 career. This milestone holds immense significance as it marks his very first pole position since joining the iconic Ferrari squad, opening a brand-new chapter in the storied history of the Maranello-based outfit.
Following a tense and thrilling Q3 qualifying session, the seven-time world champion could not hide his overwhelming emotions. He openly reminisced about his childhood memories watching Michael Schumacher dominate the sport, noting how the achievement made him feel like a young boy again seeing the red car lock out the front row.
"This pole position feels fantastic. First of all, I have to say a huge thank you to my family because I simply wouldn't be here without them," Hamilton shared with Sky Sport F1.

Intensive preparation proved to be the underlying key behind this weekend's breakthrough performance. The British veteran deliberately arrived early in Mexico to dissect previous mistakes and refine the technical approach alongside his engineering crew.
"I approached this weekend differently by arriving on Wednesday, which is something I normally never do. I wanted to analyze what we did wrong in recent races and how we could recover. We changed things up and executed a slightly different job this weekend. Even though we weren't fully competitive until Q3, everything finally came together," he explained.
Looking ahead to the main Grand Prix, a daunting run down to the first corner awaits at the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit. Despite suffering a minor power unit issue during FP2 that hindered long-run simulations, absolute focus remains on defending the lead from the opening grid slot.
