The internal tension that briefly shadowed Scuderia Ferrari has officially been put to bed after Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc held a private clear-the-air talk in Sao Paulo. The closed-door meeting aimed to smooth over lingering disagreements stemming from their opening-lap clash at the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix.
The seven-time world champion emphasized that the resolution happened organically between the drivers themselves, without requiring direct intervention from Team Principal Frederic Vasseur. Both drivers successfully bridged their differences ahead of the action at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Interlagos.
"I mean, Fred hasn't cleared the air in the sense of me and Charles," Hamilton told media outlets after qualifying in Sao Paulo. "We sat and spoke and we squashed it and we're moving on. I think we still have a huge amount of respect for each other."

The British driver expressed relief that the conversation took place promptly. He noted that intense battles on track are part of elite motorsport, but clear communication is vital to maintaining a healthy working environment within the Maranello squad.
"And I'm glad we had a chat. Now we move on along just fine as normal. So sometimes in those scenarios it just takes having a conversation and there's been no demands from either side," Hamilton added.
Tensions initially flared in Mexico when Hamilton felt a potential race win slipped away following a hard-fought opening lap battle with his teammate. Both drivers went off-track during the skirmish, allowing Max Verstappen to capitalize and secure the race victory. Logistics and personal commitments delayed their face-to-face debrief until arrival in Brazil.
Meanwhile, Leclerc echoed similar sentiments, confirming that the minor conflict has been completely ironed out and their working relationship remains entirely positive. The Monegasque driver underlined the importance of direct dialogue in resolving competitive on-track friction.
"Yes, of course. I really believe that when we speak things are much better straight away. Of course there is tension, of course we want to finish ahead of each other and sometimes we are not going to do things right," Leclerc stated.
"And it's okay sometimes to disagree on the way you see things. But at the same time discussing about those then helps a whole lot. From my perspective, I was very straightforward of course and I think it was good to speak. I think this is always needed after a moment like this," he concluded.
