The qualifying session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez delivered major excitement as Lewis Hamilton successfully secured pole position in his first season with Scuderia Ferrari. The British driver delivered a sensational single-lap performance to edge out his closest rivals in a nail-biting shootout.
Throughout the weekend at the Mexico City Grand Prix, all eyes had been focused elsewhere within the garage, but when the pressure mounted in Q3, the veteran champion stepped up. This performance marked his first pole position start since the Hungarian Grand Prix back in 2023.
Sharing the front row alongside Hamilton will be George Russell, who qualified in second place. The Mercedes driver missed out on the top spot by a microscopic margin of just 0.009 seconds, highlighting the immense competitive density on track.

Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc—who topped both practice sessions on Friday—had to settle for the head of the second row in third place. He will line up just ahead of Max Verstappen, who struggled with heavy traffic during his final flying lap attempt.
Further down the order, championship contender Lando Norris topped earlier segments of qualifying before a costly lock-up in Q3 dropped him down to sixth on the grid. Read our in-depth analysis to stay updated on the latest standings and race strategies.
