Charles Leclerc is not entirely certain he will race in next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, after his heavy crash at the Italian Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver admits he needs further medical examinations to ensure he is fully fit for the Madrid round.
The incident occurred on lap two at the Parabolica, when Charles Leclerc lost control of his Ferrari SF-26 at high speed. The violent impact against the barrier triggered a red flag, and the Monegasque was immediately taken to the circuit's medical centre.
After initial checks, Leclerc was cleared of any serious injuries. However, he revealed that he briefly experienced vision problems in his right eye. "The neck was OK, it was just the vision a little bit at first. The right eye was not showing me great vision, but now it's all good," he said.

Despite that, the 28-year-old admitted that such a heavy accident always leaves some physical aftermath. "There is a bit of pain here and there, which is normal after a crash like this, nothing more," he added.
Leclerc stressed that he will undergo a series of additional checks. "I think I'll have quite a few additional checks that we still have to do on my side, probably tonight and tomorrow, to make sure that I'll be fully fine for Madrid. It should be the case, but better be safe than sorry," he explained in an interview reported by Autosport.
As for the cause of the crash, Leclerc suggested "a difference in power delivery," but insisted he wanted to examine the data rather than speculate. He also expressed his disappointment. "It's very frustrating, but it's the way it is now. I cannot change the results. I'll have to look forward and hopefully bounce back in Madrid," concluded the Scuderia Ferrari driver.
This incident adds to a disappointing weekend for Ferrari at Monza, following a difficult qualifying session for both Lewis Hamilton and Leclerc. Attention now shifts to Leclerc's recovery and the team's readiness for the Madrid round.
