The long-term future of Laurent Mekies at Milton Keynes has been officially secured after shareholder Mark Mateschitz announced a landmark contract extension during a team debrief. This major announcement was delivered just days after Max Verstappen delivered a masterclass performance to claim victory in Singapore, cementing a crucial wave of momentum for the championship outfit.
The agreement represents a profound vote of confidence in the Frenchman, who initially stepped into the role back in July 2025 following the departure of Christian Horner after his remarkable 20-year reign. Taking over during a turbulent period, he successfully steadied the ship and steered the squad back toward its traditional winning ways.
"I am incredibly proud to continue this journey with Oracle Red Bull Racing," Mekies stated, highlighting the unique collaborative culture that drives the organization forward on a daily basis.
"What makes this team special is the way everyone comes together in pursuit of the same goal, and I feel privileged to work alongside such a talented and committed group every day," he expressed. He also emphasized the foundational roles played by technical leaders Pierre Wache and Ben Hodgkinson in shaping the team's competitive horizon.
In a joint statement, shareholders Chalerm Yoovidhya and Mateschitz praised his steady hand through demanding times. They noted that his leadership successfully preserved the core racing principles of the organization while navigating the massive technical shifts introduced in the 2026 regulations.
