The Formula 1 race weekend at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Interlagos delivered plenty of drama both on and off the track. Lando Norris unexpectedly went viral across social media platforms following a hilarious mishap during his podium celebrations at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The star driver put on a masterclass performance throughout the weekend amid changing weather conditions. After controlling the race pace and securing his third victory of the season in commanding fashion, he prepared to execute his signature podium celebration trick which he has practiced ever since his junior single-seater days.
However, what was supposed to be a routine celebration quickly turned into comedy gold. Instead of forcing the champagne to fizz out through a controlled slam, the base of the bottle shattered completely upon impact with the floor. To make matters even more memorable, he then stepped forward and appeared to take the direct stream of the podium pyrotechnics right to his face.

Fortunately, the incident left him completely unharmed, and he was spotted laughing off the awkward moment alongside Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar, who finished second and third respectively. The amusing sequence instantly captured the internet's attention, generating waves of humorous comments from fans worldwide.
Reflecting on his unique celebration method previously on the F1 Explains podcast, he explained, "Instead of shaking the bottle and then spraying it, you smash it against the ground. The trick here is to not smash it. And the trick to that is by having a very, very thick, strong bottle." Despite the hilarious hiccup on the podium steps, the mishap did little to dampen a stellar afternoon for the McLaren ace.
