The final practice session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez ahead of the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix delivered high drama and fierce competition on track. Teams faced ambient temperatures of 22 degrees Celsius with the track surface heating up to 43 degrees Celsius, forcing engineers to fine-tune car setups to extract maximum grip from the Pirelli rubber.
Early attention shifted to the pit lane as Haas handed track time to their reserve driver, marking a milestone moment in the Japanese driver's career. However, the mood inside the Audi garage quickly turned gloomy when Gabriel Bortoleto reported a power unit issue, forcing the Brazilian rookie to park his car and trigger a lengthy repair job as mechanics hunted for a fluid leak.
Technical gremlins also plagued two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, who wrestled with a stuttering power unit and unexpected downshifting failures that briefly sent his car spinning off line. Despite the early drama, the pace at the sharp end of the field escalated rapidly as championship contenders began pushing the limits.

Scuderia Ferrari spearhead Charles Leclerc showcased formidable single-lap speed, regularly trading fastest sector times with the chasing pack. Lewis Hamilton also briefly held provisional command of the timesheets before the frantic final runs reshuffled the order.
When the dust settled on the final practice hour, Lando Norris laid down a massive marker by snatching the fastest time of the weekend so far, edging out rising star Kimi Antonelli by a razor-thin margin of just one thousandth of a second.
