Kimi Antonelli Details Lessons Learned From Lewis Hamilton And Max Verstappen

Young Italian sensation Kimi Antonelli has opened up about the invaluable lessons he is absorbing from competing directly against established Formula 1 world champions Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Racing at the pinnacle of motorsport requires rapid adaptation, and sharing the track with such decorated icons provides an accelerated masterclass in racecraft.

The learning experience was highlighted when Kimi Antonelli secured a brilliant second-place finish, joining race winner Max Verstappen and third-placed Lewis Hamilton on the podium. Speaking during the post-race press conference, the Mercedes charger discussed what it takes to measure up against four-time and seven-time world champions.

"It is always great to, first of all, be able to share the track, in this case with Max and Lewis, because they are definitely rewriting... Well, Lewis basically did the history of the sport and Max is doing the same," the Mercedes driver explained, emphasizing his deep admiration for his seasoned rivals.

The chaotic nature of the grand prix, complicated by weather disruptions and multiple safety car periods, offered unique tactical insights. Kimi Antonelli noted how crucial those moments were for understanding tyre grip limits and race management under pressure.

"Today was a really good showcase of how Max handled the restart on slick tyres and the slippery track," Kimi Antonelli continued, breaking down a pivotal on-track moment involving the Red Bull Racing star. "He just knew much better how to position the car and had a better feeling for the grip in those first two corners and overtook me."

"Even though it was not nice to get overtaken, I was very annoyed with that, it was still a good way to learn from that and to use it in the future," he admitted. Beyond pure racecraft, he also praised the resilience of Lewis Hamilton, noting how the Ferrari driver consistently keeps his head down to extract the maximum result regardless of adverse circumstances.
