Kankkunen Warns Toyota Before WRC Greece Final Day

Juha Kankkunen warned that the 2026 Acropolis Rally Greece remains far from over despite Toyota Gazoo Racing holding second and third overall with Sebastien Ogier and Takamoto Katsuta heading into the final day.

Kankkunen admitted Thierry Neuville showed impressive pace on Saturday, especially after the Hyundai driver produced a standout time before Ogier reduced the gap again on the final stage of the day.

"We all looked at Thierry's time on the second-to-last stage and nobody could quite believe it. He drove extremely well. But Seb struck back a little on the final stage, so I think we're in for a great battle tomorrow."

Toyota's position remains strong because Katsuta has a solid hold on third place. However, Kankkunen admitted it was disappointing to see Elfyn Evans drop to seventh after suffering a puncture on Saturday's final stage.

"If we look at Super Sunday, both Elfyn and Sami have good pace. They are both capable of fighting for the Super Sunday points. Overall, I see the situation in a very positive light."

Kankkunen stressed that Sunday's final four stages should not be underestimated. Although the competitive distance is just over 80 kilometres, the Acropolis terrain remains extremely rough, rocky and capable of producing more tyre trouble.

"I've driven those stages myself and they are brutal. They're far from easy, extremely rough and full of rocks. This rally is certainly not over until those stages have been completed."
