Jorge Martin's MotoGP world championship aspirations hang in the balance as injury forces him to officially withdraw from the remainder of the Malaysian Grand Prix weekend at Sepang ahead of the qualifying sessions.
The factory Aprilia rider opted to abandon his heroic attempt to race through the pain barrier after assessing his physical condition during Saturday morning's final practice session, where he languished 21st and last on the timesheets, 1.8 seconds off the pace set by Tech3 KTM's Enea Bastianini.
"Jorge Martin will withdraw from the remainder of the Malaysian GP to continue his recovery from injury," Aprilia confirmed in a brief team statement following his early exit from the Sepang paddock.

This premature withdrawal could effectively shatter his title bid, having already slipped 10 points behind Ducati rival Marc Marquez following a heavy high-side crash during the sprint race battle at Phillip Island just a week prior.
The impact from that Australian crash inflicted a non-displaced fracture on his radius bone, which initially put his trip to Malaysia in serious doubt. Although he passed medical checks by Dr. Angel Charte on Thursday and Friday, completing a limited three-lap run to conserve energy, Saturday's eight-lap stint proved that a competitive weekend was simply impossible.
