A massive blow has struck the Aprilia camp as Jorge Martin has officially been ruled out for the remainder of the Malaysian Grand Prix weekend. The difficult decision was confirmed on Saturday morning after the 2024 MotoGP world champion realized his fractured right wrist could not withstand the physical demands of riding at competitive speeds, completely altering the trajectory of this year's championship battle.
The physical setback stems from a high-speed crash last weekend during the Sprint race in Phillip Island while he was locked in an intense battle for victory against Marc Marquez. Although subsequent medical examinations revealed only a single bone fracture that did not require surgery, the healing process clearly demanded much more physical rest than was initially anticipated.
Upon arriving at the Sepang circuit, the resilient Spaniard showed immense determination by securing medical clearance on Thursday to participate in Friday's opening practice session. However, after completing a limited number of laps, team management wisely called him back into the pit box to prevent any unnecessary risks and give his healing wrist adequate time to recover.

A final effort was made during Saturday morning's second free practice session aboard his RS-GP machine, but just eight laps proved that continuing further was simply unviable. Shortly after he exited the pit box for the final time, the team released an official statement confirming his withdrawal from the event.
“Jorge Martin withdraws from the rest of the Malaysian Grand Prix to continue his recovery from injury,” the team officially confirmed.
This unfortunate absence hands a massive strategic advantage to his title rivals in the overall standings. With maximum points now up for grabs for his closest championship challenger throughout the weekend, the battle for the crown has taken a dramatic twist.
