Securing second place at the Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi brought a massive wave of relief for Jorge Martin. The Aprilia star had to carefully manage his fuel levels all the way to the final lap, successfully defending his podium spot behind arch-rival Marc Marquez.
This crucial result allowed the reigning contender to hold onto a slim two-point advantage at the top of the riders' standings. His steady pace throughout the weekend highlighted his championship credentials, even as the Noale factory continues working to iron out technical nuances regarding machine efficiency.
"I am very happy, we did a great job," Martin reflected after the race, noting that it was one of his cleanest riding performances despite lacking the ultimate pace to match the race leader. Behind the scenes, however, he was fighting variables completely outside of his direct control.

Fuel consumption fears resurfaced in the closing stages, echoing similar management strategies deployed earlier in the season in Austria. Because of the tight margins, he could not fully open the throttle on the final tour, nearly allowing pursuing rivals to snatch the runner-up spot away from him.
Looking ahead to the upcoming round at Mandalika, the Aprilia camp remains confident in their package's raw potential. Nevertheless, refining braking stability while trailing other bikes remains a top priority if they wish to consistently challenge Marc Marquez moving forward.
