The battle for the premier class world championship intensifies as the paddock arrives at Lusail International Circuit for a crucial weekend of racing. Jorge Martin has been cleared to take part in the opening practice session, keeping his mathematical hopes of defending his crown alive with Aprilia Racing.
The Spanish rider was forced to withdraw from the Malaysian round last weekend due to lingering pain from a broken wrist sustained during a crash at the Australian Grand Prix. Following a quick trip back to Spain for medical checks, the reigning world champion is prepared to test his physical limits once again, though his participation for the remainder of the weekend remains subject to a strict medical assessment by championship officials.
The championship standings present a steep mountain to climb for the factory Aprilia rider, who currently faces a 44-point deficit to championship leader Marc Marquez. With only three Grands Prix remaining, Marquez could mathematically seal his eighth world title this weekend if he manages to stretch his championship advantage by 30 points by Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the paddock sees the return of several notable names returning from injuries. Fermin Aldeguer is back in action for Gresini Racing after breaking his hand in Indonesia, while Raul Fernandez has also been cleared to complete a full race weekend for Trackhouse MotoGP Team following his finger fracture sustained earlier in the flyaways.
However, the Gresini lineup will be missing Alex Marquez, who has opted to undergo surgery on the right collarbone injury he originally suffered in Barcelona earlier in the season. Substitute rider Iker Lecuona will step in to fill the vacancy across the garage, taking over the reins for the remainder of the Qatar Grand Prix weekend.
