World championship leader Jorge Martin is gearing up for a weekend filled with intense emotions and new technical challenges at the sweeping Phillip Island circuit. This weekend marks a major career milestone as the Spanish rider rides an Aprilia machine at the iconic coastal track for the very first time, having missed the previous year's event due to a physical injury.
The situation carries even greater significance as this event represents one of the final MotoGP appearances at the legendary Victorian venue. Starting from next season, the Australian Grand Prix is scheduled to permanently relocate its operations to Adelaide, adding a deeply sentimental value to the historic racing weekend for both the passionate fans and the premier class competitors.
This crucial chapter unfolds during the fifth-to-last round of an exceptionally balanced championship campaign. The reigning pacesetter arrives at the venue holding a razor-thin advantage of just two points over Marc Marquez, while maintaining a 46-point gap ahead of Marco Bezzecchi in the fiercely contested riders' standings.

Addressing the intense championship battle, the championship leader emphasized the absolute necessity of maintaining absolute focus and total trust within his technical crew. Following the recent action in Indonesia, the competitive landscape confirms that the title fight remains wide open among the top three contenders.
“After Indonesia, it remains clear that this championship will be heavily contested among the top three riders,” Martin stated ahead of the opening practice sessions. He noted that arriving in Australia with even narrower margins in the standings demands sustained hard work and complete confidence in the collective efforts of the entire factory squad.
“This will be the first time I ride the RS-GP bike at such a special circuit like Phillip Island. I am fully confident that, alongside my team, we will do an excellent job and manage to say goodbye to this historic track in the best possible way,” the factory rider added regarding his targets for the weekend.
The fast Australian layout holds a bittersweet history for the talented Spaniard. Back in 2024, he secured a dominant Sprint victory and a strong second-place finish in the main race behind his main title rival. However, painful memories also linger from the 2023 campaign when a miscalculated rear tire choice destroyed his rubber on the final lap, turning into a major turning point in that year's title race.
