Jorge Martin is set to undergo a medical evaluation for arm pump on Wednesday, ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring. The assessment will determine whether the Aprilia rider requires surgery amid a tightening title fight.
Last Sunday at Misano, Martin looked set to win the San Marino Grand Prix before arm pump caused him to fade to fifth. As a result, Marc Marquez secured his fifth grand prix victory of the season and now equals Martin's points tally at the top of the standings with 274 points.
According to Motorsport, Martin will be assessed by medical professionals on Wednesday to evaluate his arm pump condition. The outcome will determine the appropriate course of treatment, including the possibility of surgery that could disrupt his title challenge.

In Aprilia's preview for the Austrian round, Martin said: "Misano did not go exactly as we expected. Despite this, we'll hold onto the positive aspects, because in the long race, I had a good feeling, a good pace, and I was riding the way I like to up until I began to feel my forearm tightening up. After Austria, we'll evaluate how to tackle this physical problem, and we'll examine the possible solutions."
Should surgery be required, Martin is likely to undergo it before the double-header in Japan and Indonesia in early October. Currently, there are only three weekends off until the end of the season, though the Qatar round, scheduled to conclude a triple-header in early November, is likely to be cancelled.
Meanwhile, Martin's Aprilia team-mate Marco Bezzecchi is determined to bounce back after his Misano disappointment. He crashed out of the lead and now sits 33 points adrift from the championship leader. "I'm obviously disappointed about the Misano race, but the positive thing is that Austria is coming up straight away. Getting back in the saddle as quickly as possible after a mistake is fundamental. I'm clearly sorry about the crash, but we are taking away a lot of positive things from Misano: speed, the pole position, and my best result in a sprint race this season. The mistake in the Misano race obviously hurts, but we'll try to transform that pain into grit for Austria," he said.
With this situation, the Austrian Grand Prix becomes a crucial moment for Martin and Aprilia. Martin's performance at the Red Bull Ring will be closely watched as he manages his physical condition while remaining competitive against Marquez and the others. The decision on surgery will also influence Aprilia's strategy for the upcoming races.
