Jorge Martin Declared Fit for Malaysian GP FP1 at Sepang in 2026

A glimmer of hope has emerged for the Aprilia camp after Jorge Martin officially received the green light to take part in the opening practice session for the Malaysian Grand Prix. MotoGP official doctor Angel Charte cleared the rider to pilot a premier-class machine again following successful initial fitness assessments at the Sepang Circuit on Thursday.

This medical clearance serves as a vital boost for the Spanish rider as he fights to keep his championship aspirations alive this season. However, a cautious approach remains mandatory as Martin is scheduled to undergo further medical evaluations immediately following Friday's FP1 session before receiving final authorization to contest the remainder of the race weekend.

The physical setback originated from a high-speed crash during the Saturday sprint race at Phillip Island, which resulted in a broken arm that sidelined him from the Australian Grand Prix entirely. While the full-distance race at Phillip Island was ultimately canceled due to poor visibility, the lost ground in the sprint dropped him 10 points behind Ducati's Marc Marquez in the standings.

"Jorge Martin underwent a medical check today by the FIM Grand Prix World Championship Medical Team and was declared fit to take part in FP1. He will be reviewed again after that session," Aprilia stated regarding their star rider's physical condition heading into the crucial Malaysian weekend.

The Noale factory faces a double injury hurdle at Sepang, as Trackhouse Racing's Raul Fernandez is also battling through the weekend with a broken finger sustained prior to the canceled Australian event. Both riders face stringent assessments as the premier class resumes its intense global calendar.
