Jon Armstrong has admitted that his future in the WRC remains uncertain. The Irishman, who stepped up to the top category with M-Sport Ford this season, does not yet know whether his career at the highest level will continue.
Adding to the uncertainty, Armstrong says there is still no clear picture of M-Sport's plans for next season either. "At the moment, we don't fully know what the whole picture is going to look like. Obviously, the regulations are changing quite a lot," he said.
Armstrong knows that not everything on the driver market is within his control. His focus is therefore firmly on delivering strong performances during the remainder of the season. "We need to focus on putting together a few strong rallies in the next events. They could help put us in a good position for next year," he added.

M-Sport remains a strong option
Despite the question marks surrounding M-Sport's future, Armstrong still sees the British team as a strong option for next season. "I think M-Sport is a strong option to try to continue with next year. At the moment, though, it's still very unclear who is going where and who will actually be at M-Sport," he admitted.
The Irishman's plan is simple: he needs to show his pace for as long as he has the opportunity. "We'll keep doing what we can. We'll try to show good pace and hopefully we can get something for next year," he said.
Armstrong's situation also reflects the wider uncertainty surrounding the current WRC driver market. With a new technical era approaching, there is still no certainty over how many seats will be available or what the teams' final plans will look like.
Strong results left on the table
Armstrong believes he has shown during his rookie season that he has the pace required in the WRC's top category. In his view, however, the results do not tell the full story of his campaign. "You always have to keep raising the level, of course. I think we've had some good performances this year, but the results have been slightly lacking," he said.
He believes he has missed several opportunities to finish inside the top six during the season. "I think we've lost three or four opportunities for top-six finishes, either through my own mistakes or other things. That's a little frustrating," he explained.
At the same time, the Irishman believes his flashes of potential have been noticed. "We've also shown our potential. Hopefully that's enough to get us something for next year," he concluded.
