Ahead of the race weekend in Australia, Johann Zarco is preparing for his 17th appearance at the legendary Phillip Island circuit following a remarkable recovery from a severe knee injury sustained during a heavy crash at the Catalunya GP. The veteran French rider demonstrated incredible dedication during his rehabilitation to return much earlier than expected, cementing his status as one of the most experienced figures in the premier class paddock since his debut back in 2009.

Addressing the upcoming relocation of the Australian round towards Adelaide, the experienced rider shared a pragmatic and refreshing perspective on the global expansion of the championship. According to Speedweek, Johann Zarco believes the move is a logical step forward to attract new audiences. "Yes, it is a special track with a very nice layout, but we have so many tracks on the calendar that I don't think about it that much," the seasoned competitor noted regarding the changing landscape of the racing calendar.

He further elaborated that the shift in venue represents a genuine opportunity to showcase the championship to a wider demographic. "Phillip Island stands for many exciting races, but I also think it's a good idea to try something different next year. Adelaide also means an opportunity, because we want to show even more people what kind of job we do," he explained concerning the broader mission of introducing premier-class racing to a fresh generation of fans.

Significant changes are also underway within his manufacturer, with Honda confirming the promotion of Diogo Moreira to the factory HRC Castrol squad for 2027, while Moto2 graduate David Alonso is set to join the satellite setup. Reacting to the team's evolving lineup, Johann Zarco offered a lighthearted yet insightful take on his shifting role within the garage alongside the incoming youngsters.

"I see it the same way. Honda needs two top riders in the factory team. With a rider who can act as a leader, to be sure about the results, it is understandable to promote Diogo instead of a rookie," the French rider concluded, endorsing the structural adjustments designed to restore the Japanese marque to the front of the grid.
