Spanish rider Jeremy Alcoba is set to leave Kawasaki and join the AS BLU CRU Racing Team aboard a Yamaha R9 for the 2027 World Supersport Championship. The move comes after a stellar end to his campaign where he secured four victories from the final six races of the season.

The 24-year-old joins the Swiss squad that triumphed in 2026 by capturing both the rider's world title with Albert Arenas and the prestigious team championship. Yamaha also clinched its twelfth manufacturers' crown in the highly competitive production-based racing series.

Alcoba arrives as the most successful competitor from the final three rounds of the previous season. From Cremona to Jerez, he finished on the podium in all six races and outscored every opponent on the grid. His dominant run included double victories in Cremona, a win at Estoril, and a double sweep at the Jerez finale, lifting him from sixth to third in the overall standings.

Despite the strong finish, Alcoba admitted that his initial introduction to the Supersport class fell short of his early expectations. «I am very much looking forward to switching to Yamaha in 2027 after experiencing two really difficult seasons. When I came to the Supersport World Championship, I expected more. I feel that only in the final races was I able to show what I am capable of,» explained the Spaniard.

Stepping onto a machine that has conquered the championship in its first two years gives Alcoba immediate confidence to fight at the front. «Getting the opportunity to ride the motorcycle that has won the championship over the past two years is a huge opportunity for me. If you want to fight for the title, you need the best team and the best bike,» he emphasized.

For the former JuniorGP champion, the transfer marks a reunion with the Japanese manufacturer, having previously raced for their setup in the Moto2 world championship. The new partnership aims to translate past pedigree into immediate success on the production-based platform.

Yamaha Racing Sporting Manager Niccolo Canepa highlighted Alcoba's remarkable late-season charge as the decisive factor for the signing. His incredible points haul and four wins made him an undisputed choice for their 2027 World Supersport program.
