The highly anticipated racing weekend kicked off with intense action on the tarmac. Jason Smyth of Team Dolan immediately showed his true pace right from the start of the session to begin the defense of his Walter Hayes Trophy crown by securing pole position for heat four in commanding fashion.
The Irish driver charged quickly to the front, leading four-time winner Joey Foster and Klaus-Dieter Haeckel during the opening stages of the qualifying session. The tension on the track was palpable as the top spot changed hands several times following fast lap improvements from Vertical Racing driver Ian Campbell and later lowered by Haarni Sadiq.
The battle heated up further when Haarni Sadiq's lap time was deleted due to track limits abuse. This situation was instantly capitalized on by Jason Smyth, who reclaimed the top of the timesheets with an impressive lap that put him comfortably clear of his closest rivals.

Entering the final five minutes of the session, utilizing a slipstream allowed Jason Smyth to drop the benchmark down to a 1m01.849s. Although competitors like Joey Foster and Julian Van der Watt pushed hard to close the gap, the Team Dolan driver's dominance remained uncatchable until the chequered flag dropped.
By the end of the session, Jason Smyth successfully locked down the front-row start after setting a blistering best time of 1m01.328s. That stellar lap stood as the fastest across all four morning qualifying sessions, placing him firmly as the driver to beat heading into the heat races.
